My partner-in-crime and I have recently set out for our own version of The Big Lap. We’ve done a year or more of solid preparation, planning and research and considered ourselves pretty clued in. Recently, we drove into a caravan park in far north Queensland and were descended upon by a tribe of Grey Nomads as soon as our last awning pole went up. Did you know..? Have you thought about..? Let me show you…
As the Dalai Lama says – knowledge is useless unless you can share it with others. Here are our top hacks to make life on the road just that little bit easier.
15. Sprinkle Ant Powder around every surface which hits the ground
The further north you go, the more the creepy crawlies will invade. We learnt this the hard way when a battalion of green ants soldiered their way into our 50L heavy duty snap-lock containers and ate their way through a bag of sugar. Before you set off, pop into your local Bunnings and buy a canister of Hovex 1kg Ant Granules (around $13.50). Sprinkle the powder in a circle around your tent poles and footings, and the little fellas will stay away.
